Hispanic Ministry at Trinity

Missionary: Karen Swift

Partner Church: Trinity Lutheran Church

In the heart of Southeast San Diego, a neighborhood in need of hope and renewal, God has opened doors through the prayers of Trinity Lutheran Church. After years of longing to reach their community more effectively, those prayers began to bear fruit in July 2025.

Led by faithful member Gloria Rivera, with support from Deaconess Intern Karen Swift (leader of the Priscilla Ministry) and Spanish-speaking pastors and vicars, the new Hispanic Ministry is taking root. It launched with Wednesday night Bible studies, inviting neighbors to gather around God’s Word in their own language.

The vision is clear: what begins with fellowship and Scripture will, by God’s grace, grow into a full Word and Sacrament ministry—a congregation within the congregation—welcoming and serving the Latino community of Southeast San Diego.

This ministry stands as a living testimony of God’s faithfulness: a praying church, a waiting community, and Spirit-equipped leaders coming together at just the right time.
