Priscilla Ministries

Founded on April 14, 2024, under the leadership of Karen Swift, Priscilla Ministries is a growing network of discipleship communities reaching Spanish-speaking families across San Diego and Tijuana. With the support of partners such as the Lutheran Mission Society San Diego, St. Paul’s Lutheran – Pacific Beach, Hope Lutheran – Linda Vista, and Lutheran Border Concerns, the ministry seeks to make the Gospel both accessible and life-giving—for those encountering the church for the first time and for those whose faith is being rekindled. Local pastors in San Diego walk alongside Karen, ensuring that women, families, and Spanish speakers in general are discipled, encouraged, and empowered to follow Jesus in their own language and cultural context.

At its heart, Priscilla Ministries carries a vision of planting vibrant, evangelistic discipleship communities where the Gospel is both proclaimed and lived. This vision is already bearing fruit: through women’s retreats, Bible studies, and partnerships with congregations and the Instituto in Tijuana, lives are being transformed.

One powerful example came at a pre-Mother’s Day retreat in Tijuana on May 4, 2024, where more than 100 people gathered for fellowship and teaching—far more than expected. A young mother expressed her gratitude in a simple but profound way: she sketched Karen teaching on a napkin and gave it as a gift, symbolizing the personal impact and heartfelt connection the ministry is creating.

Transformation is also happening in quiet, everyday moments. Patricia, a neighbor of Trinity Lutheran Church in San Diego, had long been searching for a church home. Through Priscilla Ministries, she was invited to a Wednesday evening Bible study. There she not only found community but also began to encounter God’s Word in a way that spoke directly to her life and struggles. Her story reflects the heart of Priscilla Ministries: meeting people where they are, walking with them in faith, and opening doors to life in Christ within the local congregation.
