Seeds Taking Root at UCSD | Sporos Ministry
On Friday nights, something beautiful is happening at University Lutheran Church in La Jolla. Around an open Bible, Chinese and Taiwanese students from the University of California San Diego are gathering—to read Scripture, ask honest questions, and build community far from home.
This growing Bible study is part of Sporos Chinese / Taiwanese Ministry, led by missionary Charles Vu, a member of University Lutheran Church and part of a broader team developing Chinese ministries in La Jolla and Poway. What began as prayer and conversation is slowly becoming a steady rhythm of Word, fellowship, and trust.
For many of these students, this is their first sustained encounter with the Gospel in a relational and welcoming space. Friday nights have become a place to slow down, to listen, and to discover that faith is not just an idea—but a living story God is writing in their lives.
Sporos means seed. And right now, seeds are being planted—quietly, faithfully, and with hope.
Please pray for the students who gather each week, for Charles and the ministry team, and for the Spirit to continue opening hearts and doors at UCSD and beyond.
Mission happens through people.
And God is still growing His work among the nations—right here in La Jolla.
